Aid by Trade Foundation announced ELEVATE as the independent verifying body to The Good Cashmere Standard®

Aid by Trade Foundation (AbTF) issues the world’s first certificate for sustainable cashmere following the successful verification of farmers and cashmere producers by ELEVATE.
ELEVATE is the independent auditing company approved to conduct a verification for sustainable cashmere according to The Good Cashmere Standard®. ELEVATE and Aid by Trade Foundation (AbTF) began a partnership in September 2019 to bring greater transparency and corporate responsibility to cashmere production. ELEVATE advised AbTF on the creation of the verification tool. Customers rely on ELEVATE’s industry expertise in the food and agriculture sector and approach to driving continuous improvement with suppliers.
The Good Cashmere Standard® covers both the farmers and the next level of the supply chain, the buying and dehairing stations. All of these businesses, farmers and cashmere producers must meet social, environmental, and animal-welfare criteria. ELEVATE verifiers traveled to Inner Mongolia to audit 8 cashmere suppliers with 4,000 farms and around 1.3 million cashmere goats.
Global fashion brands and retailers that have already joined the program to sell products from certified, sustainable wool include Peter Hahn, H&M Group, Hugo Boss, Lacoste, J.Crew and BESTSELLER.
