Mara Chiorean

Global Community Impact Asia Pacific Project Director, Johnson & Johnson

Mara is a firm believer in the role of business in sustainable development. After spending eight years in sustainability advisory in Hong Kong and one year travelling around the world, she joined Johnson & Johnson in 2019 as the Global Community Impact Asia Pacific Project Director based in Singapore. She drives programming and partnerships for social impact, leveraging company resources to build community-driven solutions to healthcare issues and spark life-changing innovation in the Asia Pacific region.

Prior to Johnson & Johnson, Mara was an Executive Director of CSR Asia managing their Hong Kong office with the mission to create positive impact through responsible, inclusive and sustainable business. Combining a passion for sustainability with a strong business acumen, her expertise is integrating sustainability in business strategy having worked with a wide range of organisations on advancing their sustainability agendas. Her previous roles covered teaching corporate sustainability at The University of Hong Kong, sustainable investment with ASrIA, telecommunications with T-Mobile and market research with IPSOS. Through all her work, she aims to shift business-as-usual mindsets, getting people to think about innovative solutions to the global challenges we are facing.

Mara has a master’s degree in Environmental and Energy Management at Bocconi University in Italy. She is a graduate of the Oxford Scenarios Programme at Saïd Business School, University of Oxford. She loves good food, photography and travelling.
